Family tour to Peru
A Peru Family vacation around the highlights of Peru crafted to allow for families to enjoy a unique and authentic experience with the knowledge that you are on a safe and carefree Peru Family Vacation. Recommended for under 12's, this vacation combines a thrilling experience with an educational component as you visit the ancient Inca citadel of Machu Picchu; Cuzco, the capital of the Inca empire; Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake in the world; the Amazon Rainforest and the beaches of northern Peru for some final R&R.
Machu Picchu - Amazon - Lake Titicaca
16 days / 15 nights.
ITINERARY
Day 1: Lima

Arrival in Lima, reception and transfer to the 4* Exclusive hotel. Accommodation in a large comfortable family room.

Day 2: Lima

After breakfast, private city tour of Lima including the main square, the cathedral, San Francisco Catacombs and a visit to the Larco Mar complex with cinemas, restaurants, play-areas etc. Free afternoon.

Day 3: Cuzco

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Cuzco, the ancient Inca capital. After the one hour flight, reception and transfer to the 3* San Agustin International hotel and accommodation in a family room. Free afternoon to explore Cuzco on foot. Options include the cathedral, Qoricancha temple and several museums. Dinner in the evening followed by a folkloric show.

Day 4: Sacred Valley

Full-day excursion to Urubamba, the sacred valley of the Incas and to the ancient Inca market town of Pisac. A visit will be made to llantaytambo, the only Inca town that was not defeated by the Spanish. Return to Cuzco and the traditional market town of Chinchero. Return to your hotel.

Day 5: Machu Picchu

Transfer to the railway station for the Vistadome class train to Aguas Calientes. Full day's guided tour of Machu Picchu, the most spectacular ancient city in the world. Return to Cuzco. Transfer to your hotel.

Day 6: Puno

Transfer to the bus station for the wonderful trans-altiplano journey. Many stops will be made along the way including a stop for lunch at Siccuani. Reception and transfer to the 3* Sillustani hotel in Puno. Accommodation in a family room.

Day 7: Lake Titicaca

After breakfast, a tour by boat to the island's of Uros on Lake Titicaca. A tour of the reed islands of Uros before continuing onto the wonderful island of Taquile. Lunch on the island. Late afternoon return to your hotel.

Day 8: Puno

Free day to explore Puno town on the shores on the highest navigable lake in the world. Accommodation at your hotel.

Day 9: Lima

Journey towards Juliaca for the transfer to Juliaca airport for your return flight to Lima. Arrival and transfer to your hotel.

Day 10: Iquitos

Transfer to the airport for the flight to Iquitos, in the heart of the Amazon jungle. Start of your jungle expedition. Transfer to the river dock where you will begin the trip to the lodge. Along the way you will briefly see Iquitos, founded in the XIX Century. The trip along the Amazon will allow you to enjoy a wonderful panorama in which the beauty of the Amazon makes its way through the lush jungle, and where picturesque villages appear on the shores of the river. Arrival at the lodge. The lodge is built in the native-style and is surrounded by trees, plants and flowers; with many birds and butterfly species. While your naturalist guide explains the lodge facilities and the activities to come, the staff will serve you with a refreshing "welcome drink" made with exotic fruits. You will then be escorted to your family lodge. The programme starts with a short walk or canoe ride, according to the season, to visit a Yagua tribe community, one of the most ancient ethnic groups of the amazon rainforest. Here you will have the chance to try the "pucuna" or blowgun. Return to the lodge. Lunch. In the afternoon you will proceed with an ethnobotanic tour around the lodge, where you will be able to distinguish certain species of the many indigenous plants. Visit to a "shaman" who will explain about the regional flora and its useful applications. Tour to the Santa María del Ojeal farmlands where you will see the artisanal sugar cane squeeze. You will also visit a fishfarm to observe native fish and walk around a typical village on the shores of the Amazon. A romantic evening canoe ride or thrilling walk in the jungle and then return to the lodge. Dinner.

Day 11: Amazon Jungle

After breakfast, a fullday exploration of the primary jungle reserve in the Yanayacu River ecosystem followed by a navigation in open boats on the Amazon River to spot for pink dolphins. Arrival in the Huashalado Village from where you will make a short walk to the Yanayacu River, where another boat will be waiting to take you the "Kingdom of the Giant Trees", amongst them the "lupuna" or ceiba. This is a favorite site for birds since it is in the river that they find the fish and fruit that grow on the banks. With a bit of luck, you may see monkeys moving in the tree tops or perhaps a sloth hanging from a branch. Boxed lunch on the boat or on the edge of the river. Primary jungle hike by trail or canoe ride, according to the season, in which you will observe various plants and trees like the Victoria Regia, the largest waterlily in the world which can reach a diameter 1.80 m. Return to the jungle lodge where on the way you will have the chance to practice native-style fishing of piranhas, mojarras and other species. If you wish, there will be an evening canoe ride or if you prefer, relax in a hammock or enjoy an exotic drink at the bar. Dinner.

Day 12: Iquitos

Breakfast at the lodge and then return to Iquitos and transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day free for personal activities.

Day 13: Mancora

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flight to Lima and then a connecting flight to Tumbes. Transfer to the wonderful, all-inclusive, private resort in Mancora on the Pacific Ocean, complete with private beach, swimming pool, playground and all family amenities.

Day 14: Mancora

Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the resort. Free day to enjoy the private beach.

Day 15: Mancora

Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the resort. Free day to enjoy the private beach.

Day 16: Mancora - Lima

After breakfast, transfer to Tumbes for the flight to Lima and for your onward connecting flight home.
