Day 1:
Flight to Tumbes. Reception and transfer to the beautiful
private Máncora resort complete with its own private
beach.
Day 2:
Free day at leisure to enjoy the beach.
Day 3:
A selection of activities such as horse riding, a visit to
the local mud baths or perhaps even some deep sea fishing.
There is an opportunity for an all-day excursion to the Mangrove
Swamps National Sanctuary of Tumbes. Close to the Ecuadorian
border, these are the only mangrove swamps in Peru and are
a sanctuary to the very rare Tumbes crocodile, tamandua (a
small anteater), numerous birds such as blue heron, frigate
birds and stilts, and many species of iguana.
Day 4:
Transfer to Catacaos, the artisan capital of Northern Peru.
A chance to see the local craftsman at work and perhaps purchase
some of their beautiful jewellery. Transfer to Piura airport
for the return flight back to Lima.
(You may extend your tour by several days to just relax or perhaps explore nearby Ecuador. Likewise, you may wish to combine the
trip with another Northern Peru extension - ask for further details).
