Motor Cycling Tour Around Peru

Lima - Cusco - Machu Picchu - Lares Hot Spring - Colca Canyon

ITINERARY
Day 1: Lima

Arrival to Lima. Reception and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2: Lima - Cuzco (Breakfast)

Transfer to the airport for your flight to Cuzco. Reception and transfer to your hotel. Free afternoon to relax and acclimatize to the high altitude of Cuzco. Accommodation in the Inca's capital.

Day 3: Cuzco city tour(Breakfast, Dinner)

After breakfast, city tour of Cuzco by motorcycle. We will drive around Cuzco and visit the nearby sites such as Sacsayhuaman, Qenqo, Pucapucara and Tambomatchay. Return to Cuzco for accommodation and dinner. Total drive of 40km/25miles.

Day 4: Cuzco - Machu Picchu (Breakfast)

An early start by Vistadome train to Aguas Calientes, accompanied on the train by an escort.. Guided visit of the most spectacular ancient city in the world. This fabulous city contains houses, temples, warehouses, a large central square; and all connected by narrow roads and steps that are surrounded by terraces cut into the mountain side. After the tour, free time to enjoy this spiritual wonder. Opportunity for a guided trek (approx 1 hour) up to the sungate (Intipunku), which is a part of the Inca Trail, for a magical view of the sanctuary or alternatively an unguided climb to the top of Wayna Picchu, with a magnificent view of the whole Sanctuary (recommended for fit individuals only). Return in the afternoon by train to Cuzco and transfer to your hotel.

Day 5: Sacred Valley (Breakfast, Lunch)

After breakfast, we head for the Sacred Valley with our motorcycles. Visit the village of Pisac, founded during Colonial times. On Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays the Indians barter their products, and artisans from all over the area sell their woven alpaca wool blankets and ponchos, engraved gourds, antique reproductions and jewellery. On Sundays, it is also the meeting place for the local Mayors of the region, who come dressed in their traditional costumes, to attend morning mass. After buffet lunch at the Alhambra Restaurant, a visit to Ollantaytambo, the only Inca town which is still inhabited. Explore the ruins above Ollantaytambo. From here we drive further on to agricultural site of Moray and the salt mines in Maras. Last stop is the small town of Chincheros. We return to Urubamba to for accommodation.
Total drive of 210km / 131 miles.

Day 6: Sacred Valley/Quillabamba Valley (Breakfast, boxed lunch)

After breakfast, we take our bikes direction Quillabamba and through the high pass of Abra de Malaga (4500msnm/14000feet). On our way to Quillabamba we will pass through some traditional Peruvian towns. Accommodation at the Don Carlos hostal in Quillabamba.
Total drive: 90km/56miles asphalted roads and 150km/94miles off-road.

Day 7: Quillabamba Valley/Lares Hot Springs (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

After breakfast, we drive from Quillabamba to Lares, know for its hot springs. On her way we will drive through the Yanatile Valley. In the afternoon relax in the hot springs. Overnight camping in Lares.
Total drive: 245km/153miles off-road.

Day 8: Lares Hot Spring - Cloud Forest (Breakfast, Dinner)

After breakfast we change the Sacred Valley for the Cloud Forest. We will ride up to the summit of Chahuaytri (4000msnm or 13000feet), drive through the town of Paucartambo and then descend again to the summit of Ajanacu. Our final descent will be through the Cloud Forest at 1800msnm of 5900 feet. Overnight accommodation at a lodge.
Total drive: 60km/37miles on asphalted roads and 110km/68miles off-road.

Day 9: Cloud forest - Pillcopata town (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Early in the morning, we will get into the forest to look for the Peruvian National Bird, the Gallito de Las Rocas. Afterwards we return to the lodge to have breakfast and take our bikes direction to Patria Pillcopata. Arrival at the lodge. In the afternoon we take a 20min boat ride up-river to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Peru. Overnight accommodation at the Villa Carmen Lodge.
Total drive: 90km/56miles off-road.

Day 10: Villa Carmen Lodge - Erika Lodge Manu (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

After breakfast, descend to the town of Atalaya. From here we take a 30 min boat ride to arrive to our next lodge, the Erika lodge in Manu. In the afternoon, opportunity to climb the canopy tower (30m high) to spot some wildlife and birds. Accommodation at the lodge.
Total drive: 50km/32miles off-road.

Day 11: Erika Lodge Manu - Huacarpay Lake -Andahuaylillas town (Breakfast, Dinner)

After breakfast, we start our trip direction to Huacarpay lake. We will stop in Paucartambo for lunch (not included) and continue from here to Andahaylillas. Accommodation at the beautiful ranch house.
Total drive: 290km/181miles off-road.

Day 12: Huacarpay Lake - Colca Canyon (Breakfast)

After breakfast, we head onwards to the famous Colca Canyon in Arequipa. We wil ride off-road through the breathtaking Valley of the Volcanoes up to 5000msnm/16400feet. Accommodation in Chivay, the main town in the Colca Valley.
Total drive: 100km/62.5miles asphalted roads and 300km/187miles off-road.

Day 13: Colca Canyon-Mirador del Condor - Arequipa (Breakfast)

After breakfast, we ride up to the Mirador del Condor to spot some condor birds flying over the Canyon. From here we drive to the city of Arequipa, also know as the white city. We will pass the summit of Pampa Galeras while we spot vicuñas. Overnight stay in Arequipa.
Total drive: 310km/193miles on asphalted roads.

Day 14: Arequipa (Breakfast)

After breakfast, city tour visiting the Chilina valley and the old San Lorenzo district. General view of the city from the Yanahuara Belvedere, the Plaza de Armas and its cathedral, the cloisters of La Compañía Church, the Church and Square of San Francisco and the extraordinary Santa Catalina convent which is built from volcanic lava and dates from the 16th century. Also an opportunity of seeing the best preserved mummy in the whole of the Americas, Juanita, housed at the university. Free evening. Overnight accommodation in Arequipa.

Day 15: Arequipa-Puno (Breakfast)

After breakfast, we drive from Arequipa to Puno, know for the famous Lake Titicaca while enjoying some amazing landscapes. Overnight accommodation in Puno.
Total drive: 380km/237miles on asphalted roads.

Day 16: Puno - Lake Titicaca (Breakfast, Dinner)

Full day excursion to the islands of Uros. Uros, a group of islands made entirely of tortora reeds is home to a small community dating back to a pre-Inca culture. Return to Cuzco and to your hotel for a farewell dinner. Accommodation in Cuzco.

Day 17: Cuzco - Lima (Breakfast)

Transfer to the airport for your return flight to Lima and onwards connecting flight home.
