ITINERARY
Day 1:

Arrival in Lima, reception and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2:

City tour of Lima including a guided visit to the Cathedral, the Main Square and the San Francisco Catacombs.

Day 3:

Flight to Cusco, the ancient capital of the Incas. Self - guided city tour of Cuzco. With so many places to visit, the tourist ticket will enable you to enjoy most of the wonderful sites around Cuzco. Dinner in the evening with a folkloric show.

Day 4:

Excursion to Urubamba, the sacred valley of the Incas and to the ancient Inca market of Pisac. A visit will be made to the only inca city not invaded by the Conquistadores, Ollantaytambo. Lunch is included and upon your return to Cuzco, a visit to the old market town of Chinchero.

Day 5:

After breakfast, we leave for the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman, overlooking the city of Cuzco. Journey on to Ollantaytambo where we will spend the night at a local hotel.

Day 6:

Today we start the fabulous Royal Inca hike from Choquesuysuy through spectacular cloud forests to Winaywayna. Guided tour of these fabulous terraces before heading towards the sungate and descent into the Sanctuary of Machu Picchu. Accommodation in the town of Aguas Calientes.

Day 7:

Early return to Machu Picchu for a full day's guided tour of the most spectacular ancient city in the world. For those keen, there will be an opportunity to climb Wayna Picchu mountain that overlooks the sanctuary. Return in the afternoon to Cuzco by train. Accommodation at the hotel. Free evening.

Day 8:

Flight to Arequipa, the most beautiful city in Peru. Transfer to the hotel and preparation for the wonderful trek ahead.

Day 9:

After breakfast, we drive through some wonderful scenery towards the Colca canyon, where we shall see groups of wild alpacas, vicuñas and guanacos. We eventually reach the most important town of the Colca Canyon, Chivay situated at 3600m. We shall also visit the old ghost town of Ran Ran at 4482m. Camp at Aquenta 4782m.

Day 10:

After breakfast, we start the trek heading across the continental devide at an altitude of 5010m. Camp at the Carhuasanta river some 4730m, one of the furthest tributaries of the Amazon river, at the foot of Mount Mismi, from where the waters originate.

Day 11:

Today we will visit Apacheta river, which is the very first tributary of the mighty Amazon. We will head towards the Apacheta high pass to cross over into the Colca canyon. Camp at Qollpa 4400m, close to the town famous for breeding alpacas.

Day 12:

After breakfast, we head towards the old town of Lari in the Colca canyon. A visit to the church and the old cemetery. From here we take our bus back to Arequipa. Transfer to your hotel.

Day 13:

City tour of Arequipa, the "white city", including the 16th century convent which is built entirely of volcanic lava.

Day 14:

Transfer to the airport for the return flight to Lima. Transfer to your hotel.

Day 15:

Leisurely day with plenty of opportunity for shopping before your transfer to the airport and your return flight home.
