Posada Amazonas is a comfortable yet unobtrusive 30 bedroom lodge; thanks to its accessibility, excellent wildlife observation opportunities, and comfortable accommodations, Posada Amazonas is the ideal short, economic, introductory nature tour to Amazonian’s richest rainforests
The lodge itself consists of a complex of 10 sections: Rooms, dining area and kitchen, relaxation area and internal support facilities. The entire roof of the lodge uses high quality crisneja palm fronds, whereas the floors are of tropical mahogany. The room’s complex consists of four 9 x 24 m. structures with 6 rooms per unit.
Posada Amazonas is constructed using a combination of modern eco-lodge techniques with the same traditional materials and architectural techniques that native communities throughout the Amazon use for building their homes: wood, palm fronds, wild cane and clay.
The 30 rooms are 7 x 4 m., holding 3 beds comfortably, although they are set up for 2. The walls dividing each room are built using cane and clay; the combination of clay and cane achieves two important objectives; acting as thermal regulators and providing a charming final look.
The dining area can host 80 people at the same time and is designed to be used as a conference room and as a slide presentation area. The clearing around the lodge is just large enough to allow the lodge to be built without hazards (only the large trees that could fall on the lodge were cut). This way each room has a great view of primary forest. Between the 5 room modules there is an open, roofed structure with hammocks where people can relax and enjoy.
We can provide to the visitors incredible natural history experiences, like paddling a catamaran around the oxbow lakes near Posada Amazonas in search of families of 1 - 7 playful 2 m. long giant river otters. Also, less than 1 km. from Posada Amazonas are 2 parrot clay licks. The noise level and superb photography at this distance complements the experience in this pristine rainforest. Visits are also made to the Canopy Tower; a 35 m. metal tower that provides safe and effortless access to the canopy; visitors walk up a banistered staircase, stopping to rest and inspect the canopy on any of the tower’s twenty platforms.
