Day 2. Huaraz (Breakfast)

Free day at leisure. Perhaps visit the Wilcahuain archaeological complex.

Day 3. Huaraz - Base Camp (Breakfast, lunch and dinner)

After breakfast, transport to Paltay to start the trek to Collon at 3300m. Continuing up the beautiful Ishinka valley that sits directly under Tocllaraju, Urus, Ishinka, and Ranrapalca. Arrive at the base camp of Ishinka at 4300m. Camp for the night.

Day 4. Base Camp - Summit of Ishinka - Base Camp (Breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Climb over the glacier to reach the Morraine Camp. Then an attempt at the summit. Return to base camp. Camping for the night.

Day 5. Base Camp - Huaraz (Breakfast)

Return down to Huraz and a day of rest in preparation for the Alpamayo summit attempt.

Day 6. Llamacorral (Breakfast, lunch and dinner)

After breakfast, drive to Cashapampa to start the trek up to Campo Llamacorral. This first day is a steady three hours of trekking.

Day 7. Basecamp (Breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Again a fairly easy day as you trek towards the Alpamayo base camp at 4300m.

Day 8. Moraine Camp (Breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Climb to the Moraine camp, which is mainly a steep terminal moraine with a few sections of easy rock.

Day 9. Col (Breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Climb to the Col camp at 5300m. (This section can sometimes be the most technical part of the entire climb). The high col is between Alpamayo and its sister peak, Quitaraju. The guides will fix ropes in advance of the group on one steep section. One fixed rope and two belayed sections are normal in order to reach the col.

Day 10. Alpamayo Summit Ascent (Breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Ascent to the summit of Alpamayo, lying at 5947m. The climb starts with a reasonably steep glacier to the bergschrund. There are several steep ice pitches, around 50°. The final couple of pitches increase to 70° resulting in grading of around Alpine AD/AD+ or Ice Grade 3. We allow 7 hours to reach the summit. Return to the Col Camp.

Day 11. Basecamp (Breakfast, lunch and dinner)

Return to the base camp.

Day 12. Cashapampa - Huaraz (Breakfast and dinner)
