Day 1: Arequipa
After breakfast, you start the trip through some
wonderful scenery towards the Colca canyon, where you shall
see groups of wild alpacas, vicuñas and guanacos. A
visit will be made to the Salinas and Aguada Blanca Reserve.
Eventually, you will reach the most important town of the
Colca Canyon, Chivay situated at 3600m. Accommodation in a
hostel.

Day 2: Chivay
After breakfast, tranport to the Cruz del Cóndor look
out at 3800m. Here is the only place in South America that
you are guaranteed to see condors flying. After, you will
start the trek in las Pampas San Miguel at 3300m. From here
you will walk down into the canyon close to Tapay. Set up
camp at San Juan de Chuccho 2400m.

Day 3: Chuccho
Today you will visit the old town of Tapay, which is part
of a collection of towns dedicated to cultivating Tuna, or
prickly pear cactus. These fruit have "cochinilla", which
is used for dyeing clothes. Camping in Sangalle 2225m, a beautiful
oasis.

Day 4: Sangalle
After breakfast, you will ascend the "ladder" of the Colca
Canyon and head towards the town of Cabanaconde at 3230m.
A visit to the thermal spa in Calera before returning to Chivay
and private transport back to Arequipa.
