ITINERARY
Day 1. CUZCO - SACRED VALLEY - MACHU PICCHU (dinner)

Arrival to Cuzco, and if arriving early enough (before 11.30am), transfer to the station in Ollantaytambo to catch the 13.27 train to Aguas Calientes. Arrival at 14.50 to catch the last bus up to Machu Picchu at 15.30. The short ride up to Machu Picchu will meander through breathtaking mountain scenery up to the ancient Inca citadel. Arrival to the Sanctuary Lodge for dinner and accommodation.
If you arrive to Cuzco after 11.30am we recommend a night in the Sacred Valley.

Day 2. MACHU PICCHU - SACRED VALLEY (Breakfast & lunch)

Today you will have an early start and enjoy breakfast before a guided tour of Machu Picchu, the most spectacular ancient city in the world. Built by the Inca Pachacutec, and comprising stone blocks fitted with masterful precision, Machu Picchu harmoniously blends into the mountain landscape. There are many theories as to the origins behind Machu Picchu but three of the most popular ideas include a temple to the sun, a fortress against the jungle inhabitants or a sanctuary for the Incas. This fabulous city has houses, temples, warehouses, a large central square, all connected by narrow roads and steps, and is surrounded by terraces cut into the mountain side which were used for agriculture. Lunch at your hotel before the return train back to Ollantaytambo and transfer to your hotel.
We recommend the Albergue -

Day 3. SACRED VALLEY - PISAC - OLLANTAYTAMBO (Breakfast only)

After breakfast at your hotel, start of a full-day's excursion of the beautiful Urubamba, the Sacred Valley of the Incas, situated between Pisac and Ollantaytambo. It is an exceptionally fertile valley that was and remains the larder of Cuzco. You will visit the village of Pisac, founded during colonial times, and set at the foot of a hill crowned by the remains of an ancient Inca city. On Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, you will witness Indians bartering their products in the main square and artisans from around the area sell their woven alpaca wool blankets and ponchos, engraved gourds, antique reproductions, jewellery, etc. Visit to Ollantaytambo, the only Inca town that was not defeated by the Spanish with an opportunity to explore the ruins which tower above. You will then return to your hotel.

Day 4. SACRED VALLEY-CUZCO (Breakfast only)

After breakfast, transfer to Cuzco, the ancient Inca capital of the Incas and to your hotel, the Los Andes. In the early afternoon, you will be met for a group tour of Cuzco including the Qoricancha temple or temple of the Sun, the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman overlooking Cuzco city, Qenko, Tambomachay and Puka Pukara. Return to the hotel in the evening.

Day 5. CUZCO (Breakfast only)

Free day at leisure to wander around this incredible city on your own.

Day 6. CUZCO -- LIMA - CANCUN (Breakfast and dinner)

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your return flight back to Lima in time for your connecting flight to Cancun. The flight will connect through Bogota arriving Cancun at 19.30. The only direct flight is early in the morning which is much more expensive and would require an additional night in Lima. Arrival and transfer to your resort. We currently have two options for these dates, the Secrets Maroma Beach or Grand Velas Riviera Maya.

Day 7. CANCUN (All meals)

Free day at leisure with all meals.

Day 8. CANCUN (All meals)

After breakfast, depart to Chichen Itza, a magnificent archaeological site built by the Maya civilization between the 9th and 12th centuries.
Its name means "at the mouth of the well of Itza" and is home to the Kukulkan Pyramid, also known as "El Castillo" (the castle), now one of the new seven wonders of the world. Chichen Itza was the principal ceremonial centre of the Yucatán. The tour will include the Great Ball court, the Temple of the Warriors and the sacred Cenote. After the tour, return to your hotel.

Day 9. CANCUN (All meals)

Free day at leisure with all meals.

Day 10. CANCUN (All meals)

Free day at leisure with all meals.

Day 11. CANCUN (Breakfast)

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your return flight home.
