ITINERARY
Day 1. RIO DE JANEIRO

Arrival to Rio de Janeiro and transfer to your hotel.

Day 2. RIO DE JANEIRO (Breakfast and lunch)

After breakfast, a full day visit of the "marvelous city" including a sightseeing tour to Sugar Loaf Mountain. A two-stage cable car takes you to the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain where you will enjoy a splendid view of Rio, Copacabana Beach, and Guanabara Bay. After lunch, a visit to Corcovado, the mountain home to the world famous, Christo de Redentor statue for a magnificent 360° panoramic view of Rio. Return to your hotel.

Day 5. RIO DE JANEIRO - IGUAZU FALLS (Breakfast)

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for the flight to Iguazu. Arrival, reception and transfer to your hotel. Start your half day excursion to the fabulous UNESCO World Heritage Iguazu falls, the most voluminous falls in the world and more than three times the width of the Niagara Falls. The falls lie on the three borders of Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. Return to your hotel.

Day 6. IGUAZU FALLS (Breakfast)

Full day excursion to the Argentinean side of the falls. Transfer across the border to get a closer appreciation of these magnificent waterfalls.

Day 7. IGUAZU - LIMA (Breakfast)

Transfer to the airport for the flight to Lima. Arrival in Lima, reception and transfer to your hotel.

Day 8. LIMA (Breakfast)

After breakfast, pick up at 9am for a guided visit of colonial and modern Lima, including the cathedral, which still houses the original bronze fountain built in 1650, and the San Francisco Convent and its catacombs. Known as the city of the kings, Lima was founded in 1535 by Pizarro and rebuilt in 1991, the same year that UNESCO declared it a world heritage site.

Day 9. LIMA - CUZCO (Breakfast)

After breakfast, return to Iquitos for your return flight to Lima and connecting flight to Cuzco, reception and transfer to your hotel.

Day 10. CUZCO (B)

Free morning. At 13.45, pick up for the afternoon guided visit of the four ruins nearby; the Sacsayhuaman Fortress overlooking the of Cuzco, a pre Inca architectural masterpiece; Kenko, a rock sanctuary whose main attraction is the monolithic altar representing a puma, the red Fortress of Puca-Pucara and Tambomachay, a beautiful fountain fed by a spring forming a series of basins continue to the city of Cuzco; the Main Square, the Cathedral and the Koricancha or Temple of the Sun. Return to your hotel at 18.00.

Day 11. SACRED VALLEY (Breakfast and lunch)

After breakfast at your hotel, discover the best of the Sacred Valley of the Incas through this route starting on the Inca's Balcony, in Chinchero, a beautiful place with an impressive view, where twelves families still preserve their traditional costumes, showing you the ancestral way in which they process the wool, and obtain those vivid colours for their textiles. A visit to the fortress of Ollantaytambo before returning to your hotel.

Day 12. CUZCO - MACHU PICCHU (Breakfast)

After breakfast, take the 06.00 train to Aguas Calientes. Arrival at 09.30 and start the guided tour of Machu Picchu, the most spectacular ancient city in the world. This fabulous city has houses, temples, warehouses, a large central square, all connected by narrow roads and steps, and is surrounded by terraces cut into the mountain side which were used for agriculture. After the tour, free time to enjoy this magical and spiritual wonder. Opportunity for a trek (approx 1 hour) up to the sungate (Intipunku), which is a part of the Inca Trail, for a magical view of the sanctuary. Return back down to to Aguas Calientes at 16.30 and transfer to your hotel.

Day 13. MACHU PICCHU - CUZCO (Breakfast and lunch)

Opportunity to visit the local outdoor baths. If wishing to return to the sanctuary, you must pay for the entrance tickets again. Return to Cuzco with the 16.30 afternoon train. Arrival and transfer to your hotel.

Day 14. CUZCO - PUNO (Breakfast and lunch)

After early breakfast, transfer to the bus terminal for the tourist bus to Puno. This trip will begin by ascending gradually out of the Cuzco Valley until arriving at the town of Andahuaylillas where you will visit the "Sistine Chapel of the Andes". This colonial era Chapel features mainly interesting canvasses which illustrate the use of Andean Symbology being incorporated into traditional Catholic images. From here you will travel further to Raqchi which is the tallest set of Incan Ruins. The road from here climbs slightly to La Raya which is the highest point at 4200 m. There will be a brief stop here and there are views across to the snow-capped mountain peak. From here the road gradually descends to Pukara where you will visit the museum and ruins of this pre-incan civilisation. From this visit you will continue to Puno situated on the edge of Lake Titicaca. Lunch will be buffet at a restaurant during the trip. Lying on the shores of Lake Titicaca, the highest navigable lake. Transfer to your hotel.

Day 15. ISLANDS OF LAKE TITICACA (Breakfast)

After early breakfast, pick-up for a full day excursion to the islands of Uros and Taquile. Uros, a group of islands made entirely of tortora reeds is home to a small community dating back to a pre-Inca culture. The inhabitants of Taquile are more closely related to the Aymara people of Bolivia than the Quechua Incas of Peru. Return to Puno in the afternoon and transfer to your hotel.

Day 16. PUNO - COPACABANA - LA PAZ (Breakfast)

After breakfast, transfer to terminal for the bus to Copacabana Bolivia. Passing through the frontier, the bus will stop at before arriving to La Paz and transfer to your hotel. Please note the bus here is in shared services with other passengers.

Day 17. TIAHUANACO (Breakfast)

After breakfast, a visit to Tiahuanaco. Tiahuanaco was the centre of a very powerful empire stretching back to before 500BC. Excavations are still in progress but many stone ruins including the sungate and central square are in excellent condition. A visit to Pumapunku, part of a large temple complex or monument group that is part of the site and is believed to be the site where the world was created. Return to La Paz.

Day 18. LA PAZ - RIO (Breakfast)

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Rio.
