Seakayaking the Chilean Fjords

This sea-kayaking expedition will take you to the very heart of the ancient Alerce forests in the Pumalin National park. We will paddle for up to 6 hrs a day, negotiating currents and tides, traversing channels, and traveling along the rich coast of the Chilean fjords. The trip is available from October to March.
The expedition is designed for beginners and expert sea-kayakers alike. We have double and single sea kayaks fully equipped for high seas, safety flares, radio, satellite phone and first aid kits. Personal sea-kayaking equipment includes neoprene suits, neoprene booties, and dry bags.
Day 1. Arrival in Puerto Montt and transfer to Hornopiren where will take the ferry crossing over to the Reloncayi inlet. Briefing and introduction to your sea-kayaking equipment. Camping.
Day 2. Introduction to paddling and self-rescue sea-kayaking techniques. Crossing over to the Llancahue Island, dependent on weather conditions where there will be hot springs nearby to enjoy. We will continue paddling until reaching our intended campsite, just above the tide-line. Coastal Camping.
Day 3. Today the crossing continues to the very end of the Cahuelmo fjord. Our campsite is located near to hot springs, with impressive vistas of the adjacent peaks. Coastal Camping.
Day 4. Trekking and paddling to Abascal pond, including river crossings and hiking through unknown trails. We will return to our camp for a special dinner. Coastal Camping.
Day 5. Crossing to the Huinay bay, after visiting a sea-lions colony. Weather permitting, we will se the hanging valley of Mt. Tronador and its glaciers and waterfalls.Camping.
Day 6. We will cross the Comau fjord until we reach the Porcelana bay and visit the Porcelana river hot springs, immersed in the lush Valdivian rainsforests. Flora abounding includes firns, nalcas, alerces and ulmos among other indigenous species.
Day 7. We will paddle up the Vodudahue River and visit the Fundo (ranch) Puerto Lisandro. The Vodudahue valley is surrounded by granite walls and hanging glaciers. We will camp in the majestous bay.
Day 8. Crossing to Leptepu bay and where will do the final section in a motor boat to return to Hornopirén. A vehicle will take us back to Puerto Varas for our well deserved shower and farewell dinner.
Day 9. Transfer to Puerto Montt airport for your return flight home.
