Horseriding - Marian - Wilcahuain - Lake Tararhua
(4 days, 3 nights)
Day 1:
Transfer from Huaraz to the small town of Marian where we will saddle up and start our horseriding trek for about five hours. After lunch, heading into the Quebrada Cojub and to set up camp near the lake.
Day 2:
After breakfast, we leave on horseback towards Lake Palcococha at 4800m which in 1941 flooded Huaraz. The alluvium is still visible to this day. Today you will appreciate many beautiful views including Mount Palcaraju. Return to Marian for another night's camping.
Day 3: After breakfast, we will head towards the ruins of Wilcahuain on horseback. The ruins are pre-inca and date back to 800AD. The culture is believed to have been an expansion of the Wari culture. Return in the evening to Huaraz.
Day 4: After breakfast, leave Huaraz for the Southern Calljon de Huaylas around the Olleros district. Saddle up the horses and visit the beautiful Lake Tararhua. Picnic lunch is included. Return to Huaraz in the evening.
